North Korea

An East-Asian country located on the Korean Peninsula, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) was founded as one of the two split Korean nations after the end of Japanese colonization post World War II. North Korea is a socialist single-party state with the official state ideology of Juche or national self-reliance, and the country's legal system is a civil law system based on the Prussian model influenced by Japanese traditions and Communist legal theory.

The North Korean economy is centrally directed and relies on mineral exports to China, its primary trading partner for foreign reserves due to sustained embargo imposed by the United Nations.
