Mali

Gaining its independent from France in 1960, the land-locked West African nation of Mali started democratic elections since 1992, only to be interrupted by the 2012 Tuareg rebellion. Mali is a semi-presidential republic with a civil law legal system based on the French civil law model and influenced by customary law.


Economically, Mali depends on gold mining and agricultural exports for revenue, that the country's fiscal status fluctuates with gold and agricultural commodity prices harvest. Specifically, cotton and gold exports make up around 80% of its export earnings.
